Ian Bruce

Over a period of eight months Ian Bruce was an artist in residence at Nutley Hall, a residential and craft centre for people with learning disabilities. He has painted nineteen members of that community.

As a subject matter, people with mental impairments are absent within the tradition of the painted portrait. He has painted this collection of images at a time when disability advertising is persistently campaigning for inclusion and visual acknowledgment
